Sentio Case Movie

First of all I am happy to announce for those of you who didn’t know – Sentio was one of the projects that got to the finals in Stockholm! That means we will present our concept in London in January 22nd 2010!

Read more about it on the Island2Island website. Representative from our Sentio group will be there to tell you more about the making of together with a few other groups and their projects.

I have now put together the work process of Sentio in a case movie that you can see here. Until we get the opportunity to shake hands online through Sentio, see you again soon!

Countdown to London

Not until today where we allowed to start actually building our exhibition space on-site.  When I write “building” there is no exaggeration in it, we literally took big walls and screwed them together and created a room inside an exhibition room.

Lately the schedule is so tight and there is some distance between two working spaces (school and exhibition) that I can’t follow everything what’s happening. One part of our group was creating layout of our exhibition space, another putting two Sentios together, finishing details and onscreen animation.

At the evening Tokyo-London room was ready and Sentio looking good.  Carrying Sentio and computers down and fixing them up with exhibition instalation – that’s all there is to do for tomorrow before our presentation which will be held in front of jury containing Petter Warnsberg, main sponsor – Citat Journalistgruppen and some other industry people.

We are going to smash them down with our proffesional presentation wearing our Sentio uniforms.

May vader bear watch over us!

Pawel Zwolinski, Head Developer

P.S.: Just noticed that AD or PR sounds cool but if I make HD it can stand for head developer as well as for handicraft designer:)

P.S.2:  twenty to London – now I realized, that that’s exactly how much days we had to finish our Experience Animation and Technoloy module, cool name!

We are in….

STOCKHOLM!

Yesterday we arrived to Stockholm and the Hyper Island school here. All except for Malin, who’s taking her car here today.

More update about that later because she’s bringing all our good stuff here!

Sentio in function

Today we presented the prototype in our peer review session to group 21! they loved it and we are amazed it works and that it triggers a lot of reactions and feelings.

Still a lot of work to do, the design is a major issue that not only needs to make the product look fantastic but also user friendly and durable.

We had another sponsor meeting and they will help us with prints and banners……..GREAT!!!! we are motivated as ever! and it is friday! timelines are tight but we will be able to have a weekend! that is good. Monday hard work and on tuesday the bus leaves to Stockholm.

This group has really proven to be hardworking and efficient, we aimed high and made it happen!

Things are going well

We are making progress! The prototype is pretty much working, and we have sponsors! Tomorrow we’ll have a meeting with a potential second sponsor, and then it’s all the focus on getting the things we need for the exhibition (besides finishing the prototype to 100%, of course)

Pawel has made nice progress in the tech department and is now having a well-deserved break attending a jazz (!) concert. True to his word, he’s not missing out on the chance of some sweet tunes in the night.

We are still in need of some furniture for the exhibition, so if you know anybody who could lend us one or two tables and a pair of chairs – please let us know!

The Experience Animation & Technology exhibition now has its on website! Check it out, it’s really damn cool! http://www.eat09.se/

Are you excited? We are for sure!

Sentio Prototype v1.00

We’re getting there! Step by step Sentio is becoming more and more real. Lina and Anna-Karin are very close to finishing our promotional stop-motion movie, Sofie is looking for sponsors (there is a hope, who knows, maybe there are people out there who have too much money), Ida is working on a secret Stockholm surprise and both me and Malin are working on sender and receiver construction and elements.

I can proudly say that today Sentio was born – Ida put a hand into receiver and was touched by it. What happened after that can only be described as piercing scream of mix between fear and fascination. This is what happens when You meet digital touch brought to life in reality. I was quite satisfied with the effect.

Now we need to complete all the minor tasks around the project so we present as complete as possible prototype on friday. Spirits are high, moods are great, energy flow almost visible. There is no other way – Sentio will be great.

Work in Progress…

So things are slowly getting together for the exhibition next week!

Today started with a fun morning meeting. After Sofie showing us our group’s article for the Exhibition Magazine we needed to come up with a catchy headline. Which resulted in a lot of funny and creative solutions that made us all laugh and fool around for a while. Happy times!

Today we had time for some Tech Support with Niklas Bivald. Sentio and our vision is slowly becoming reality! Also all pieces for the exhibition movie have been put together that we’re going to loop on our station. Åse, our very skilled classphotographer took some really nice photos of all groups today that is going to be published in the Exhibition Magazine. All in all it’s been a good day with a little bit too much of “fika”…

Sofie is working on hunting down sponsors for our project. If you would like to sponsor us in any way, feel very welcome to contact us! What we are looking for right now is livingroom interior to get the right atmosphere on our station. Other kinds of donations are very welcome too. Every little thing is highly appreciated to make our vision get the attention it really deserves!

Best Regards

We got mail…

Today we got our missing motors and sensor! Now we have all the missing pieces and everything is ready to be build. Malin and Sofie have been working on the prototype for a couple of days and it is very good synced with Pawel’s tech part of the prototype. Put them together and we have Sentio!

Lina and Karin have been working on the movie we are showing on the exhibition all weekend and the whole day today- with good result! I am doing the intro and outro and tomorrow we will try to put everything together.

I am also involved in the “exhibition group” trying to arrange the entire exhibition. As a responsible for collecting magazine articles, for the magazine being handed out on the exhibition, I finally got to send out the instructions today. Tomorrow is the deadline of the article for the magazine that will be handed out on the exhibition. Sofie is almost done with ours and she really managed to describe one of our goal – put some human emotions into technology.

Over all we all had a fun day! Even our teddy bear got a new mask – he is now officially Darth Vader….

Friday magic

Today was a hectic, productive, and intense day.

We are all dedicated and focused on our different tasks. Anna Karin and Lina are bringing a fantastic stopmotion alive! Pawel is fiddling about with the phidgets and it looks like he is becoming a genius in that field. Sofie presented a perfect Logo for our Sentio. Now we can start branding ourselves. The magazine article can be shaped!! Ida is everyone’s lifesaver, especially the exhibition teams layout responsible. she took a great workload upon herself, which results in a well structured and a professional looking layout.

Myself, i have been trying to create the Sentio, using papermache, steel, glue, tape, wire, balloons……etc. its slowly getting the shape we are aiming for. (pictures will follow)

In the middle of all that we managed to have a 1 1/2 hour group process session, which we all think was valuable and constructive for the group dynamic and the individual.

For the weekend we will collect some energy and positive spirit and bring that back on Monday for a new week to kick in real strong.

(is it possible to papermache’ someone?)

Thursday activities

A lot happened today, in what felt like all areas. Me and Malin went out to Lyckby and stocked up on wallpaper paste and balloons. Because really, what is the cheapest material for making product prototypes? That’s right, papier mache! We also had the idea to make the basic shape out of salt dough (one again, incredibly cheap material), but it turned out it was way too soft and just fell apart. So, papier mache it was.

Lina and Karin had some great ideas for an exhibition video which they started working on with Ida making the intro. I’ve seen their work in progress and it looks great!

Me and Malin have also spent quite some time on branding and logo design. We will show our results to the rest of the group tomorrow.
